Frequently asked questions

We've gathered answers to the questions parents ask us most often.

What is KidCurious?

KidCurious is a child-safe AI companion for kids aged 4–12. It offers conversations adapted to the child's age, printable colouring pages, and full parent control over the whole experience.

Is KidCurious safe for my child?

A child never talks directly to the AI model. Every message — in both directions — passes through a moderation layer: filters for profanity and unsafe topics, detection of attempts to bypass safeguards, and age-appropriateness checks. Safety matters more to us than engagement.

What data do you collect about my child?

The minimum: a nickname chosen by the parent and an age band. No surnames, birth dates, photos or location. Voice recordings are not stored, and the account belongs to the parent — in line with GDPR.

Does the AI pretend to be human?

Never. KidCurious always says it's an AI, doesn't build emotional attachment, and never asks a child to keep secrets from adults.

How do the age groups (4–6, 7–9, 10–12) differ?

Vocabulary, length and the way the conversation flows are adapted to each group. The same question gets a different answer — simpler for younger kids, fuller for older ones.

My child can't read yet — can they still use it?

Yes. For ages 4–6 the conversation happens by voice — the child speaks and listens, no reading or writing needed. Older kids can also type in the chat.

What does the parent control?

Parents have a PIN for settings, choose the child's age group, can see conversation history, reset a session, turn voice on or off, and review safety events.

When does it launch and how much does it cost?

The product is in development. People on the waitlist will be the first to get invitations to the free beta. We'll email you about post-beta plans. No ads — ever.

What devices does KidCurious work on?

We're launching in the browser — on computers, tablets and phones. iOS and Android apps are planned.
